What this document is
WP.30 (แบบ บต.30) is an application to the Department of Employment (DOE), Ministry of Labour, to renew the work permit of a foreigner who was permitted to enter Thailand under the immigration law pursuant to an agreement or Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on labour cooperation between the Government of Thailand and the government of another country.
The form is bilingual (Thai and English) and has 4 pages: details of the foreigner, passport, visa and permission to stay; the current work permit; type of work, employer and place of work; the renewal period applied for; the checklist of attachments and the signature. The last page is for official use only.
Who files it and where
- a foreign worker who entered Thailand under an MOU (for example from countries with which Thailand has such agreements) whose work permit is expiring and who continues working for the same employer;
- the worker signs the application as the applicant; in practice the employer often prepares and submits the documents — check the submission procedure with DOE;
- it is filed with the Department of Employment — in Bangkok the office for foreign workers or an area employment office, in other provinces the provincial employment office;
- the fee and processing time are not stated on the form — check them with the office.
What the form asks for
- title, name in Latin letters as in the passport, nationality, date of birth and age;
- address in Thailand, telephone, fax, e-mail;
- passport or document in lieu of passport: number, issuing authority and country, dates of issue and expiry;
- visa: type, number, place and dates of issue; date of arrival, immigration checkpoint and permitted stay;
- current work permit: number, province, dates of issue and expiry;
- type and nature of work, employer and its address, address of the place of work;
- renewal period applied for (years, months, days) with the from and to dates; date of signing.
Documents to attach (section 4 of the form)
- a copy of the passport or the document in lieu of passport;
- a copy of the proof of permission to enter Thailand (visa and stamps);
- the employer’s employment certification stating the reason for not employing a Thai national;
- a medical certificate from a Thai-licensed physician confirming no mental disorder and none of the diseases listed in the Ministerial Regulation under Section 64/1;
- a copy of the employment contract and the work permit itself;
- employer documents: for a natural person — a copy of the ID card, passport or Certificate of Residence and, if any, the business licence; for a juristic person — a copy of the registration certificate showing the business category;
