What this document is

A freelancer has no employer to issue a certificate, so for a DTV Workcation embassies look at the portfolio, client contracts, statements and, at some embassies, a business registration. The declaration puts these facts into one clear English letter that goes with the evidence.

It is FoxDocs’ own template, not a government form: there is no official DTV form, and the application is filed only through Thai e-Visa. The declaration does not replace supporting documents and does not guarantee a visa.

What it states

  • your details: name, nationality, passport, date of birth, address and contacts;
  • profession and since when you work independently;
  • business registration (country, number, name) or a note that there is none;
  • up to three main clients outside Thailand;
  • average monthly income, currency, period it is averaged over, how payments arrive;
  • a statement that the work is done online for clients outside Thailand, and a list of enclosures.

What to enclose

Embassies usually ask for a portfolio, proof of income (often for 6 months), bank statements for 3 months with at least 500,000 THB or the equivalent. Some embassies require self-employed applicants to show a business registration in their name. Since 31 August 2026 every DTV category also needs proof of permanent residence in the country of application and a criminal record clearance certificate.

State only what your documents show. The list differs between embassies — follow the e-Visa page of your embassy.

Frequently asked questions

Is there an official freelancer declaration form for the DTV?

No. This is an unofficial FoxDocs template; embassies accept such free-form statements together with supporting documents.

Do I need a business registration?

It depends on the embassy: some require self-employed applicants to show a registration in their name. If you have none, the declaration says so honestly.

Can I list clients in Thailand?

No. DTV Workcation is for work for clients outside Thailand; working for Thai clients requires a work permit.

Which income should I state?

Your actual average monthly income in the currency received, over a period your statements or invoices confirm.

Who signs the declaration?

You do, by hand. Then upload the scan to the e-Visa application.

Does the declaration guarantee the visa?

No. The Thai embassy or consulate decides and may ask for more documents.
