What this document is

For a DTV in the Workcation category, Thai embassies ask for proof of remote work: an employment contract, an employment certificate or a portfolio. Many employers do not know what to write — this template gives a tidy one-page English letter.

It is FoxDocs’ own template, not a government form: there is no official DTV letter form, and the application is filed online only through Thai e-Visa. The letter only records facts confirmed by the employer and does not guarantee a visa.

What the letter states

  • the company: name, country and number of registration, address, business activity, website;
  • the employee: name, nationality, passport number, position, start date;
  • type of contract (permanent or fixed-term), full-time or part-time, monthly salary and currency;
  • that the work is done remotely for the company and its clients outside Thailand and does not involve working for Thai employers;
  • the period during which the company permits work from Thailand;
  • an HR contact for verification, the signatory’s name and title, space for the stamp.

Who signs it and how to submit

An authorised person of the company (director, head of HR) signs the letter, preferably on letterhead — there is space for the logo at the top. Upload the signed scan to the e-Visa application with your other documents.

Some embassies require the employment contract or certificate to be authenticated by the embassy of the country where the company is registered, plus the employer’s registration documents. Check your embassy’s DTV page.

What else the DTV requires

  • passport biodata page and a photo taken within the last 6 months;
  • bank statements for 3 months with a balance of at least 500,000 THB or the equivalent (or a sponsorship letter);
  • since 31 August 2026 — proof of permanent residence in the country of application and a criminal record clearance certificate;
  • work documents: contract, certificate or employer letter, portfolio.

The list and authentication rules differ between embassies — follow the e-Visa page of your embassy.

Frequently asked questions

Is there an official employer letter form for the DTV?

No. Embassies accept a free-form letter or an employment certificate; this is an unofficial FoxDocs template. Check your embassy’s requirements.

Can I use it if my employer is a Thai company?

No. DTV Workcation is for remote work for a foreign employer or clients outside Thailand; working for a Thai company requires a work visa and a work permit.

Does the letter need to be authenticated?

Some embassies require the contract or certificate to be authenticated by the embassy of the company’s country. This is stated on that embassy’s DTV page.

Which salary should be stated?

The actual gross salary in the contract currency, as in the payslips. Embassies usually also ask for proof of income for recent months.

Can it be signed electronically?

Usually a signed scan is uploaded. Whether an electronic signature is accepted — check with the embassy.

Does the letter guarantee the visa?

No. The embassy or consulate decides on the visa, and Thai immigration decides on the length of stay at entry.
